Cold voltage is the kill limit

Open-circuit voltage rises as temperature falls. A string that's safe in July can exceed a controller's input ceiling on a January morning and destroy it at first light. We compute Voc at your coldest expected temperature — using the module's published coefficient where it exists, and NEC Table 690.7(A) where it doesn't.

Panels don't have a system voltage

"12V panel" is legacy marketing. Whether a panel works with your bank is decided by the controller between them — a 47V Voc module runs a 12V bank perfectly well through the right MPPT. We judge the panel–controller–bank relationship, never the panel alone.

Array limits move with bank voltage

The same controller accepts a bigger array at a higher bank voltage — a Victron 100/30 takes 440W at 12V and 880W at 24V. Every wattage ceiling we quote is the one for the bank you actually selected.

Unknown is a real answer

A component missing the figures needed to judge compatibility isn't marked compatible or incompatible — it's marked unverified, and it's held back from filtered results with the count shown. Silence beats a wrong yes.
