About AmpHour

Why it exists

Buying off-grid power equipment means answering one question over and over: will this part work with that part? The answer lives in datasheets, buried in figures that listings rarely publish — bank voltages, array ceilings per bank, cold-morning open circuit voltage. Most comparison sites skip it and sell you a link anyway.

AmpHour computes the answer and shows its working. Every verdict comes with the numbers behind it so you can check it against the manufacturer's own document.

How the catalogue is built

Products are discovered from merchant feeds, then specifications are extracted with the sentence each number came from attached. Everything passes deterministic physics validation before publication — a battery whose stated watt-hours don't reconcile with amp-hours times volts does not go live, it goes to a review queue with the reason attached.

A large share of the catalogue is then verified by hand against manufacturer datasheets rather than merchant copy, because merchant copy is wrong often enough to matter. Where a figure cannot be established, the site says unverified rather than guessing.

Only current, new stock is listed. Discontinued and refurbished items are removed outright rather than hidden behind a filter.

How we make money

Affiliate commissions on some outbound links, at no extra cost to you. That creates an obvious temptation to rank paying merchants first, so the rule is simple and absolute: merchants we earn nothing from appear beside the ones we do, at the same prominence, in the same price order. If a non-paying merchant is cheapest, it appears first.

Nobody pays for placement, a better verdict, or removal of a bad one. No merchant sees the catalogue before it publishes.

Corrections

If a specification here is wrong, tell us and cite the datasheet page — it will be fixed and re-verified. Getting numbers right is the entire product; a correction is a favour, not a complaint.
